T-Ball

JJ's big summer adventure is T-Ball! He was really excited at first about joining, but after the first practice he was not to sure about it. But now that he has played a few games and is starting to understand the game better he is really starting to enjoy it. Ben has also enjoyed going along and watching the games and playing with the other little babies that are there! I will post a few more pics as the season goes along! Above is JJ playing pitcher and below he is taking a break in the dugoout.

Here is Ben enjoying a cool drink and a nice snack while he watches the game.

Below is a short clip of JJ up to bat.

JJ's New Bike!

Jeremiah wore out his old hand-me down bike at the end of May so we had to go shopping for a new one! The bike he has now is a little big for him but he is doing really well with it. The first day did not go so well, but after a little pep talk and a whole lot of practice he is speeding right along!

Toliet Paper Fun!

Ben's newest habit is to open as many drawers as possible. One summer day he decided to go in and get a roll of toliet paper out of the bathroom drawer. He was so pleased with himself and started having so much fun that JJ and I had to get into the act as well. Here are a few pics of the fun!

Father's Day

The day after the party was Father's Day! Grandpa had stayed overnight, so once we all got going, we took him and Mark out for brunch at Ho-Chunk! Before Grandpa left we took a few photos of the boys with Grandpa!

Later on, Mark opened his gifts from the boys and I! JJ had picked out a movie for Mark and some candy to go with it!

Ben's First Birthday Party!

We finally had Ben's first birthday party on Saturday! We were so happy that our friends and family were able to make it, despite the flooded roads! It was a very fun day!
Here is my good friend Amy and her son Andrew helping Ben out on his new climber! Andrew enjoyed playing with Ben throughout the day! We were so happy that Amy and Andrew could make it to the party, they had quite a drive to get here! Thanks for coming:)
Here we are with the cake! We had asked the bakery for a individual cake for Ben to destroy! We did not realize that it was going to be so big! They called it a baby cake, but I am not sure if that was the correct term for it! Despite the size Ben had a great time digging into it!

JJ and Mary enjoyed the blowers at the party! They also jumped in to help Ben blow out his candle!

Madison also helped Ben out when it came to destroying the cake! Thank you Madison! Ben could not have done it without you:)

Present time! Ben was a little interested in the presents. He did sit very well during the whole time and enjoyed ripping the paper. There were several helpers around to help out when Ben was no longer interested!

Great-Grandma Ruth made Ben his very own sock monkey and a Raggedy Andy! Thank you Grandma:) Ben has both things in his crib and enjoys sleeping with them every night!

Interesting Discovery

When I went in to check on Ben and JJ last night this is what I found in Ben's crib! Somehow, BB managed to jump into the crib with Ben! We were worried about her doing this when Ben was smaller, but she never bugged him. However, now that he is bigger she must think it is okay! I took her out of the crib after a few snapshots. Hopefully this will not become a new habit:(

Playing in the Backyard

On Tuesday we had a little break in the cruddy weather and the boys and I enjoyed some time in the backyard!

Two boys and a pot

One evening the big stock pot was pulled out of the closet and the fun ensued! It began with both boys simply banging on it, but later on it became a little more.
Now our biggest ham turned it into battle armor!
And of course Ben could not be left out of the fun of dressing up with the pot!

Breakfast on the Farm

Bright and early Saturday morning I packed the boys up to go have breakfast on the farm. Our friend Rachel joined us on our adventure, too! Below is Rachel and Ben on the bus on the way to the farm. Ben throughly enjoyed his first bus ride! Below are a few pictures of the animals we were able to see.

Rachel and the boys:)
Me and my boys (I am not sure what is up with Ben's expression?!) Here we are on our way back to the car. Jeremiah has his souvenir feather and Ben is just ready for another trip on the bus! It was a fun morning! Thanks Rachel for coming with us!

Flooding in Reedsburg

It is hard to believe that something like this happened in Reedsburg. But our town did get hit hard with flooding. Monday morning I got up as usual to go to work. Mark came in and told me that schools were closed. I went anyways to see what was going on. On my drive to school, I came to see how bad things really were for our town. Above is a picture of our movie theater.
Above is the bridge to get over to school. It closed down around 9:00 am. I was on it around 8:30. This was one of few ways to get over to the west side of town.

This is looking down the street towards the grocery store parking lot and sign. Obviously there is no parking lot and the sign is half underwater.
These two pictures are of Webb park.

The picture below is of the road that goes to another bridge that will get you to the west side of town. As you can tell there is no way to get across this way. Not only is this power station underwater, but the town's water treatment plant is also being hit by flood waters.

The amount of flooding is unbelieveable for our town. My thoughts are with all the families that are effected by the flooding both in our community and beyond.
